Sebastian Conrad Parr

Today was Sebastian's big day - his 3D/4D Ultrasound! He nearly slept through the entire thing only to rouse a little when his big sister was in the room crying. I think this technology is so amazing. You could see that he has a little bit of hair and he sleeps with his arms bent above his head. To rest our worries, we also confirmed that he is indeed a boy. :) We were holding off painting the nursery until further "evidence." He may have been modest about doing a little dance for us but was ready & willing to show us what color to paint!

Coco's Big Day

At 2 years old, Coco has already made it through two big "growing up" rights of passage: the chicken pox and a tonsillectomy. This past Thursday, we checked into LeBonheur for the much-anticipated and much-dreaded day. After many bouts with ear infections, chronically enlarged tonsils and a bit of a snoring problem, we finally made the decision to get tubes and remove her adenoids & tonsils. Despite the sleepless night in the hospital, she is recovering beautifully. Much like her father and the beloved Dorothy, for Coco there really is "no place like home."

Happy Birthday Memaw!

We did it! We actually managed to pull off a surprise 75th birthday party for Ms. Thelma, a.k.a. Memaw. When she walked in the door, we weren't sure if she wanted to hug us or spank us. Attention isn't something she likes. She may not like it, but she surely deserves it. Memaw is so many things to so many people: a mother, a sister, a grandmother, a great grandmother, an aunt and a friend. We love you Memaw!

New Year, Great Expectations

Could it really be that it's 2009? Christmas has come and gone and New Year's Eve too. I suppose time really does fly when you're having fun. Or, is the other adage applicable here? The older you get, the faster time passes. Either way, I can hardly believe it is really January 1, 2009. I was having one of those "conversations" with Coco today that you sometimes have with a 2-year old, a completely one-sided one. She was willing to be my ears as I chatted away recalling that 9 years ago today, people thought the world was going to end. I thought it absurd at the time and thinking about it now, it seems even crazier. With the promise of a new year, great expectations abound. I don't mean resolutions; I hate those. I think French Riviera and Jenny Craig are the only ones to benefit from them. I mean contagious optimism, forward thinking and a renewal of spirit. Despite what the media would have me believe, I look forward to what 2009 will bring. Knowing that no matter what I will see, hear and experience, my God is in control and on His throne. Hallelujah and Amen...bring it on 2009!

Pardon the Interruption

Long time, no post; please pardon the interruption. My free time has been consumed with the Twilight series. I don't know why it took me so long to get on this book bandwagon, but wow, am I ever so glad I did. Thanks to Christi Cranford, I have found a new guilty pleasure.
